Flooding events within The Rye parkland due to bank failures within the River Wye, caused the local council to seek advice in the form of ECI provided by Land and Water allowing a proposal for restoration on four sections of embankment. Land and Water were successful at competitive tender stage to install primarily coir, post and faggot and Nicospan revetments. Land and Water then developed the designs further, assisting with the application for flood defense consent.
During the construction phase previously undefined services were encountered which gave Land and Water the opportunity to demonstrate its ability to deal with evolving problems and using value engineering find practical solutions to new issues. Granite filled Gabion Baskets were introduced providing both durability and an aesthetically pleasing finish. The site was within a public open park requiring specific health and safety measures. Wycombe District council praised the works and professionalism of the site team on this very successful project.
